The braces fitted by Dr. H. Derick Phan represent a serious investment in realigning your teeth for a more functional mouth and a better smile. While your braces are intended to be rather durable, there are still certain things that can bend, damage or cause hardware to break loose. This is even more likely if you chew gum or enjoy sticky or hard foods.

Without timely repair at our Phan Orthodontics, any damage to your braces will likely increase the total amount of time you need to wear them.

When we initially installed your braces, you were given a piece of special orthodontic wax. If something sharp is threatening to puncture your cheek or gums, you should secure it inside the orthodontic wax. If you don’t have the wax handy, you can improvise with a pencil eraser.

Sometimes a spacer might fall out shortly before you are due for your next adjustment session. When this happens you should call our team at Phan Orthodontics for advice. The most likely course of action is to simply schedule an earlier adjustment session to tighten your braces and install a new spacer.

If you have any issues with your braces, we invite you to call Phan Orthodontics’s clinic in San Jose, California at 408.251.7901 to schedule an appointment to have it repaired.  We want to make sure your orthodontic treatment is a positive one!
