The metal braces provided by your orthodontist, Dr. Derick Phan, are designed to realign your teeth through the course of successive adjustments. Should any part of the orthodontic hardware come loose, become bent, or become damaged in any way, it could increase the amount of time needed for your braces to effectively realign your teeth.
Having your damaged braces examined and repaired as soon as possible reduces the chances of potential complications.
When Dr. Derick Phan installed your braces, he provided you with a piece of special orthodontic wax. If a loose or broken bracket, band, or wire is poking into your cheek or gums, you should try to secure it inside the wax. If you don’t have the wax handy, you might be able to make do with a pencil eraser.
It’s also not unheard of for a spacer to come loose or fall out shortly before a scheduled adjustment session. If this happens, you should give us a call. We might recommend that you come in for an earlier adjustment and have the spacer replaced.
If you have damaged braces in San Jose, California, you should not delay in calling 408.251.7901 to have it examined and repaired at Phan Orthodontics.
